On the 13th I hired two Cambodians, including Tim who I worked with for Cambodia Expeditions last year, to translate and narrate our instructional CPR and choking emergency video. It took a few hours to finish filming and the rest of the day was spent editing and getting a few things done in the city before heading out into the provinces. Most of the work to be done was a one person job so Matt went to the zoo with Sanghi.
We wanted to make it to Stung Treng yesterday but the bus was full. It worked out for the best though because we were able to reshoot one of the the clips and confirm that the video is complete and makes sense. It also gave us a chance to buy a couple last minute things that will be hard to find anywhere else.
Tim wasn't in the city so I only had his friend, Mekong, to help finish up the video. When we were done I asked him how to say a few Khmer words. I asked how to say "rapids" and he saw the word written on the map. He replied "tunsie" and I wrote it in my Rite in the Rain notepad. After repeating the word a few times he mentioned something about a small animal, and I started to suspect we were not talking about the same thing. I just came very close to asking the locals up the river if there were any rabbits on the river, not rapids. I'm glad we cought that little mix up now :)
